Walter Thurmond was nominated for the Man of the Year Award for LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh High Valley. This inaugural campaign will be one of several that will help raise money for research and establish a legacy of health and wellness in the Lehigh Valley.
Walter Thurmond III is a Super Bowl Champion and a former Philadelphia Eagle. Thurmond is a resident of the Lehigh Valley and for the past 5 years has committed himself to philanthropic initiatives that have spanned across the globe in places such as The United Kingdom, West Africa, New York, Washington State, and Pennsylvania just to name a few. Thurmond is focused on these efforts to bring awareness to the harsh realities of Leukemia and Lymphoma specifically but Cancer as a whole because it is a global issue.
Walter's passion comes from losing two of his close friends within a span of a 7 months. His friend, Mentee Tariq Jackson died of Sarcoma and while his publicist Theodore Palmer died of multiple cancers.
Due to the close proximity of these loses, his intention is to be able to promote healthy living and a healthy lifestyle by taking care of your physical, mental and emotional health.
Walter believes we need to take accountability for our actions by actively taking care of ourselves and together we can create change. Walter is driven by the hope, that someday, we can bring an end to this deadly disease by preventing it all together through healthy living.
