Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater and Creative Arts Center is a non-profit 501c(3) founded in 2017 by fashion designer, art collector and philanthropist, Tina Knowles Lawson and her husband, actor and master acting teacher, Richard Lawson. WACO’s mission is to empower individuals by teaching them the skills and abilities to identify and pursue their dreams no matter who they are or where they come from.
One of the many programs that WACO offers is: "Tina’s Angels and Richard’s Warriors". The program is a community-based mentorship program that seeks to educate and empower teens. In the program, a teenager is assigned a mentor, selected by Tina or Richard, to work with them on identifying tangible goals and developing a roadmap toward achieving them. With wit, edge and humor, we improve health outcomes through health education, community programs, and events.
Our mentors provide individualized attention along with life skills ranging from basic etiquette to public speaking. They also offer vital support and access to resources that are often scarce in the underserved communities we focus on. We provide the resources that the next leaders of the world need to pursue their dreams and realize their true potential.
As the demand for the Center has grown, we can no longer meet the transportation needs of all our students. Hence, your support is greatly appreciated!
