SUPPORT INSPIRATIONAL STORIES AND PROJECTS
My name is Keith Copsin.
By day, I am a Bailiff in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Children's Court for Judge Parnall and a part time Youth Officer in the Juvenile Detention Center. We work with broken families and troubled youth.
By night, I am an aspiring Producer/Writer Film maker. I have written several inspirational feature screenplays and produced several short film projects. All inspired by my work dealing with Juvenile Delinquency and incarceration.
The project that I'm focusing on now is my Seven Arrows feature film screenplay. Inspired by my life and a job I once had working as a Youth Counselor for the Vision Quest Youth Rehabilitation Program back in 1987.
My story is re-imagined and written in a PRESENT DAY format.
Story Log Line: Set Present Day
"Escaping the Breaking Bad streets of Albuquerque, Keith Copsin takes a job in Arizona as a Youth Counselor leading a team of teenage boys from the Juvenile Detention Center on a modern day boot camp wagon train all the way to Canada”. Forward March!
The story follows Keith and other Youth Counselors with the Boys from the Juvenile Detention Center as they cross the North American Wilderness on the Seven Arrows Wagon Train and by saddled Mustangs on a 5000 mile, 11 month, ACTION/ADVENTURE journey to the border of Canada. Along the way, they battle the forces of Nature, rough terrain, wild animals, boot camp rules and unresolved “inner demons”. These boys will find out that they have more in common than just gang affiliation and cultural differences. Starting off as enemies on the streets and evolving to brothers of the wagon train. Keith is just as lost as his boys, and like them, the Seven Arrows journey will help him find a new purpose in life. There is more to life than a lost dream, there is creating new ones.
THE GOAL – Use funding to produce a 15 minute SHORT FILM based off my Feature Screenplay to use as a marketing piece to then one day produce the full length feature film. I have written a SHORT SCRIPT based off the FIRST ACT of my feature screenplay.
I will shoot the short film here in New Mexico just outside of Albuquerque on the beautiful south western landscape, using local UNION film makers/crew, and CAST/ACTORS.
HUMANITARIAN GOAL/JOB REFORM – Use SEVEN ARROWS to inspire local troubled youth to new ways of making a living in FILM and finding a new purpose in life outside the “Breaking Bad” streets of Albuquerque.
ALONG SIDE UNION CREW and CAST - I will CAST and HIRE local youth from TROUBLED YOUTH PROGAMS. Some will be CASTED as actors to portray the BOYS on the Wagon Train and others will be HIRED as PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS to the FILM MAKERS in different areas, who will mentor them and teach them a creative/technical trade.
I want to produce a film about troubled youth, made with ACTUAL troubled youth to give Seven Arrows real street credibility and Spirit.
- Union Crew/Cast (CAST approx. 30 boys and 10 Youth Counselors/Staff)
- teepees/wagons and props
- wardrobe and make-up
- wranglers and animals (mules and mustangs)
- Locations. Wilderness Landscapes and City Scenes.
- housing and food
TROUBLED YOUTH PROGRAMS –
LA PLAZITA INSITUTE, that work with youth gang members from the Juvenile Detention Center.
We will be also working with the New Mexico Children's Court
