E.C. Reems Community Services
Mothers and daughters typically have a strong bond between them that is often formed without spoken words. Emulation, observation, even that invisible power known as motherly love can create this connection. But sometimes, there are disruptions and it can alter someone’s path. This time away from families and the public, in general, following incarceration can create a hardship. Many find a new purpose or turn over a new leaf while kept away from the world they used to know. However, when they get out sometimes the familiar world from before has evolved into something somewhat foreign and adaptation becomes excruciating.
E.C. Reems Community Services understands the arduous transformation of integrating back into public life and puts their focus on Mothers & Daughters and what re-entry from prison is like. They have discovered one of the most effective methods of recovery is to strengthen the relationship between Mother and Daughter by providing mentorship, assistance, and access to life tools. A High School Diploma and employment are necessary components for stability.
E.C. Reems Community Services provides housing, transportation passes, luncheons, clothing, and computer access as well as quarterly seminars to mentor these transitioning individuals. The mentors are trained, formerly imprisoned women, who can connect and relate to the plight many of these outbound women may face.
All these extraordinary provisional tools come at a financial price. Here’s where the partnership of ShopNowToFund (SNTF) and E.C. Reems Community Services come together to keep these services available…
